Beth Young is one of our current We Teach members for the 2019-2020 school year. She is teaching English and Art at the International Program Satree Phuket School in Phuket, Thailand. Originally hailing from Teesside, UK, Beth moved to the southeast Asian country to be close to her soulmate and partner. Their romance began when they both attended Northumbria University. Instead of making do with a long-distance relationship, Beth made the brave decision to settle with her partner back in his home country. She became a teacher because of her dedication to inspiring youths and her love of the arts and the English language. Now, Beth spends her days (aside from teaching) getting to know her extended family and the culture that they are part of.
Flourishing as a Teacher in Thailand
Since going to Thailand, Beth has learned a lot about herself as an individual. She has been empowered in ways that she couldn’t find back home. Thailand has impacted everything about Beth’s life, from her style of living to her ideas. She has flourished into a brighter and better version of herself after taking the initial leap of faith. While working full-time as a teacher, Beth still finds time to explore the place where she is living in. On her days off, she walks around the city with her dog, hangs out with her partner and his family, and tries food and activities unique to Thailand. Beth enjoys learning about Thai philosophies, people, and culture.
