He who knows no foreign languages knows nothing of his own.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Edgar Llivisupa is currently participating in the Cultural Ambassadors: North American Language and Culture Assistant in Spain program. He will return to his assignment in Ontinyent in the Valencian Community for the 2019-2020 school year. He attends Baruch College, where he double majors in Business Journalism and Spanish Literature and Language. He comes from a Latin-American family that spoke little English at home, making Spanish his primary language up until schooling. Having lived in New York all his life, with too few chances to leave, he had a strong desire to escape and feed his curiosity of languages. The little knowledge of his heritage pushed him to start this journey by traveling to Spanish-speaking countries to reconnect to his heritage. After his two-year tenure in Spain, he intends to visit his family’s countries of origins, Ecuador and Mexico. During his free time, he enjoys reading long magazine articles and newspapers on print, listening to the same album for the umpteenth time, and planning his next getaway.
