“Tell me — what is it you plan to do with this one wild and precious life?” – Mary Oliver
Emma Higgins is a 22-year-old recent graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she majored in English Literature. She found her true passion, though, through a leadership program in Global Studies. After studying abroad in Ireland, and getting a true taste of other cultures, Emma became fascinated with living elsewhere. After college, she moved to Phuket, Thailand to become an English teacher and deep dive into a contrasting lifestyle. Traveling throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia has only emphasized Emma’s love of exploring other cultures (and spicy food). Furthermore, she enjoys reading and scuba diving – becoming immersed in a new world is her favorite adrenaline rush to chase.
Emma has future plans of back-packing through Southeast Asia, and then returning to the United States. Though navigating what comes next has not always been easy for Emma, she has hopes of obtaining an international law degree when she returns home. She aspires to find a career in which she can impact the world of human rights around the globe. After volunteering with an organization for underprivileged youth in Thailand, she realized this type of large-scale activism is what she wants to dedicate her career to. In the meantime, she’ll continue to feed her travel fever and push the boundaries of her comfort zone.
